NARC is a non-profit club formed to promote amateur sighthound racing in Minnesota. Currently we are holding straight racing LGRA (Large Gazehound Racing Association), oval track racing NOTRA (National Oval Track Racing Association), both in conjunction with Silken Windhound Racing (both straight and oval) meets. Currently most of our events are held in Cambridge, MN at the Isanti County Fairgrounds, and in Ramsey, MN at King's Ranch.
NARC is celebrating it's 10th anniversary in 2012. We are planning fun participation prizes, awards for entries travelling the farthest, and other fun prizes. We hope you can join us this year!
Sighthounds (also called Gazehounds) are breeds which were bred to hunt independently from man, using primarily their keen eyesight as opposed to sense of smell, although all their other senses are also quite accute. A sighthound sees prey and chases, whereas a scenthound smells prey and tracks. Sighthounds are athletic runners very trim and elegant, and understandably the fastest group of dogs in existence. Of course, each breed of sighthound is unique, and it is impossible to classify them all with one generic term.
Feel free to browse our site and contact us if you would like further information about NARC or any of the racing venues we host. Thanks for visiting NARC's home on the Net!
